For the past few months I’ve been walking around slightly hunched over, feeling as tense as a coiled up spring in a too-tight box. I tend to store my tension in my shoulders and neck, and lately an overabundance of work has had your girl feeling less like a human and more like C3PO. I needed a stress relieving experience. I needed a spa day. And I am pretty sure you do, too.
I always tell myself that I need and deserve regular trips to the spa, but I don’t take my own advice. Why? Because spa trips are expensive and I don’t have that kind of disposable income to just blow every month. But twice a year, it’s SPA WEEK, a magical time when spas and salons across the country offer fabulous treatments for your body and soul for a mere $50. I’m talking manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, and even Botox for those of you looking for that kind of thing. The variety of spas opening their doors has expanded. You can find anything from a mom-and-pop salon, to a posh spot like Red Door Spa, Clarins, or spas at department stores like Lord & Taylor or Macy’s, all depending on where you live. Treat yourself from October 20 to 26!
The kind folks at Spa Week asked me to check out a Chicago spa of my choice, to see what their Spa Week treatment was all about. And they let me bring the homie Luvvie with me! What’s better than a spa day? A spa day with one of your besties!
I chose the Azul Holistic Spa in downtown Chicago. Their Spa Week menu items sound especially decadent. I chose the Ultimate Pumpkin Oil Massage with Swedish, Deep Tissue and Heated Stone Therapy Combination, and the Glowing Skin Coconut Chai Facial. Luvvie chose the facial and the Pumpkin and Cinnamon Body Scrub.
When we got to the spa we were greeted by the owners – beautiful twin sisters, Martha & Silvia Romero. These ladies are warm, lovely, and made us feel immediately at home. And despite their petite stature, they are STRONG. That massage worked out all of the knots in my shoulders. It’s been two days and I feel amazing and relaxed. The facial really did lead to glowing skin — look!
At Azul Holistic Spa, they pride themselves on using natural products and organic ingredients. They recommended using raw honey for my skin, and I’m going to try out the recommendation. The Azul experience is intimate, soothing, relaxing, comforting – everything I needed. And during Spa Week those treatments are $50 a piece. Awesome deal. What better time than now to restore your spirit and get your life? Visit SpaWeek.com, or if you can’t make it during this week and you live in Chicago, visit AzulHolisticSpa.com.

I love seeing two sistas taking care of themselves (and each other) by enjoying a trip to the spa. Indulging yourself a little helps make life worth living.

I definitely am the same way – I am a tense, anxious person and live in a constant state of muscle tightness especially around my shoulders and neck. So wish I could participate in Spa Week in this year – I have found memories of this event which I lived in the U.S,. 🙂

Wonderful that you and Luvvie both enjoyed spa time together.
Here at home we don’t have anything like Spa Week and definitely NOT at $50! – so enjoy all of these reasonably priced, well deserved delights and may be do a spa event with your significant other – husband etc.
