Of all of the conferences that bloggers go to and talk about, SXSW is the one with the biggest reputation for FUN. A mashup of interactivity, technology, music and film in the heat of Austin, TX – fueled by free alcoholic beverages, random performances and pop-ups and tacos? I’ve wanted to go for YEARS. And finally, this is my year to make it happen! I’m going to SXSW this weekend! YEEHAW!
I get there on Saturday and I’ll be speaking in a totally awesome and very special panel that’s part of the Blacks in Tech schedule of events, alongside @myleik, @chescaleigh, @lecoil and @Carols_Daughter. Our panel was put together by Chescaleigh and it’s called Naturally Social: Growing Your Hair, Growing Your Audience, and Growing Your Brand. It’s on Sunday afternoon and it will be AWESOME.
SO excited!!
I’m a SXSW newbie, so I’m definitely looking for events and parties and local businesses I need to check out. I’ll be attending the Red Pump Project and Blacks in Technology event on Sunday night, so please come out and show love! And the homie Chescaleigh is having an event that’s open to all of her followers and fans, so I’ll be there too – click here for her event details!
What other events and panels should I be attending? I’m in Austin until Tuesday March 12. Let me know if there’s something fun I need to know about! SXSW, here I come!!

Love your blog but I noticed on this post the auto links-the blue highlighted that are generic in nature, I dont’ think they do your blog or readers justice. If links link to your great content I’d love to see that but not this type of auto link, it cheapens your awesome site.

Have fun and I can’t attend due to conflicting spring break schedule from college and work! Don’t forget to hit up East 6th, Dirty 6th and all those wonderful places!!! Food trucks are off tha chain! One of the Top Chef’s winners (I think??) have a food truck in East 6th with his blend of thai and whatever it was delicious!! Hit up any thrift stores there. I’ll be thinking about you guys and having fun while being 4 hours away in East Texas, crying..lol 🙂

Wow. My daughter is an indie artist from Chicago. I’m her “Momager” and we will be down there Thursday. Would have loved to have met you again. We met awhile ago, I owned Afrocentric Bookstore in Chicago. Have fun and save me a taco!

Ironic that today the former editor of Essence Magazine explained that she was fired. Maybe she will take heed that online Tech is the big things. Perhaps she can collaborate with other techies and one large umbrella is formed. I hate seeing so many blogs of different but related subjects not working together to form one huge online presence in a business model where all can win. Certainly something can be formulated along the lines of Huffinton Post. Because if something doesn’t happen: then one blog at a time will be bought up by the status quo. History will repeat itself again.
