I Found My Match With Fashion Fair’s New Foundation

by afrobella

Every now and then I’ll find myself at an event so special, it makes me reflect on my life and marvel at the company I’m surrounded by. That happened last week, when I attended a shade matching event and launch for Fashion Fair’s newest foundation, True Finish Refining Mineral Foundation, at the home of Desiree Rogers. Yes. As she’d say via her (admittedly underused) Twitter account, @IAmThatDesiree.

She’s sweet and funny and disarmingly friendly and honest. I really enjoyed chatting with her. And I can tell you that her home is just as stylish, beautiful and remarkable as she is, but I didn’t go around snapping photos of the decor and such because I’ve got a thing called broughtupsy. All I’ll say is, I need to step up my home decor game and add a sprig of fresh jasmine flowers in a tiny vase to my bathroom now.

Desiree hosted a truly elegant soiree that included the newest models for Fashion Fair, passed hors d’oeuvres and delicious cocktails, and some of Chicago’s finest makeup artists doing on site shade matching. And the place was filled with Chicago’s elite. Powerful movers and shakers, all dressed to the nines and there to celebrate the new products from Fashion Fair.

Isn’t this model GORGEOUS??? Her name is Amanda Nassali Kiggundu, and she’s a Los Angeles-based Starbucks barista who was “discovered” while working behind the counter by Desiree Rogers! She’s one of the fabulous new faces of Fashion Fair. I met a few other Fashion Fair models while at the event, and they are all gorgeous and amazing.

Two of the latest models for the Fashion Fair campaign, Ashley Hooks AKA @realmissilUSA and beautiful makeup artist @cleojones3000 show the stunning range of their new shades.

This beautiful woman is Millie Cruzat and she is @fashionfair‘s oldest model. She’s 85!!! And that is her lovely daughter. I had such a fun conversation with Millie, she’s definitely a believer in working hard at beauty – staying fit and healthy is what makes her still have that stunning glow!

There I am with Jet magazine EIC Mitzi Miller, and Tracy Daniels who was covering the event on behalf of Rachel O. Always so nice making new friends! And the other photo is of myself, Desiree Rogers, and the lovely Catrice Armstrong AKA TriceyPRWerks! Thanks to Datrice Weathers for these photos! All the others, I took on my phone. You can probably tell.

I got to check out the latest foundations and lipsticks and one of my favorite people in the WORLD, celebrity makeup artist Tia Dantzler (you can follow her@TiaDantzler), was on hand to match my shade perfectly. I love the names of the new Fashion Fair True Finish foundations – each shade comes with a sassy descriptive adjective. So everyone was going around the room sharing their shade. “I’m Enduring Ebony!” “I ‘m Honest Chocolate!” “Well I’m a Wise Honey!” Yours truly is Joyful Caramel. Seems appropriate, right? And then Tia let me try a little Rum Raisin lipstick on – it looks almost black in the tube but it’s actually a deep, sexy wine/berry.

“I’m really loving Fashion Fair’s True Finish Foundation for many reasons. I love how it feels lightweight and silky smooth on my skin. It’s also great to know that it’s mineral based so it’s healthy for my skin as well. This is now my go-to foundation!” she told me, and blended the perfect shade along my jawline and cheek. And look, here we are.

I had an amazing time at this event and I can’t wait to play with the True Finish foundation even more. The coverage is buildable and it feels light on the skin – it’s got a luminous, gorgeous finish rather than being matte and ashy as mineral makeup can sometimes be. Be on the lookout for a more thorough review soon!

The event looked wonderful! I might give that brand a try, I still haven’t found the “one” yet.

Looks like a great event. I am going to give this a second look. I attended the event with Sam Fine in Chicago a couple of months ago, and I like the direction FF is moving into. I also felt the foundation is what needed the most updating. I’m glad to see this, and the color range is really impressive.

Mama Bella is excited to see FF back with a bang!

Hostess and guests look a happy bunch and you look very relaxed and at home.

Bella, I’ve often heard you lament about your oilyness. I’m super oily too. I could never wear the Perfect Finish as a result. How’d the new foundation holding up with the oil factors?

I’ve never been much of a Fashion Fair user myself. I do remember my mom having some of the lipsticks and foundations growing up.

After I saw this product a few weeks back online, I was eager to try it. I got it yesterday in the Honest Chocolate shade and for the first day I’m liking it. I agree with you that it goes on so smooth and it very lightweight. I’ll be rotating this with some of my other foundations.

I love love the new direction Fashion Fair has taken.I recently went on a makeup shopping spree for my birthday(it doesn’t have to be my birthday to go on a spree ha,ha)and was interupted by a pushy, sales girl who had a beautifully made up face ,but was trying to convince me that it was Estee Lauder to make a sale.Let’s just say that I let her know that I was too old of a hen to be fooled by a you know the rest!!!

Awesome blog you have here but I was wondering if you knew
of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics
talked about in this article? I’d really like to be a part of community where I can get responses from other knowledgeable individuals that share the same
interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
    Appreciate it!
