For the past almost-four years, I’ve been doing this thing completely by myself. Afrobella has grown and grown beyond my wildest dreams. And I’ve come to the realization that I need help to keep things organized.
I’m looking for an intern. This is an unpaid position, but I sincerely hope to offer college credit, job recommendations, and assistance and insight into learning how a blog is run or starting your own blog if you’re interested in doing so. Oh, and products!
The ideal Afrobella intern:
is a college student who wants to learn more about beginning or having a blog of his or her own
is interested in
a. natural hair
b. black beauty
c. plus size fashion
or d. all of the aboveis great at following directions in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
has strong writing and organizational skillsThe Afrobella intern will be assisting with the following:
E mail upkeep – responding to e mail, sending e mail, sorting, and helping to keep things organized.
Scheduling – keeping me up to date on events I need to attend, upcoming dates for product reviews, keeping track of giveaways etc.
Writing – my ideal candidate would also have his or her own blog, and has strong writing skills. This could potentially lead to crossover posts, and assistance is required for upkeep of the Afrobella Store in terms of description and posting etc.
Transcribing – I need assistance with transcribing the interviews from Afrobella Radio, as well as possibly transcribing phone interviews with celebrities etc.
Blog maintainence – Cleaning up my blogroll, helping me build and maintain a list of press mentions and additional such tasks.
Does that sound like something you can handle and an opportunity you’re looking for? I’m going to be looking for someone and accepting applications for the next two weeks. If you’re interested please send an application letter to AfrobellaIntern@gmail.com. Tell me about yourself, and what you’d bring to the table. Tell me your goals and your capabilities, and what you can do for me as my intern.
I hope we wind up working together!

This seems to be a Godsend. I am totally interested in this opportunity and will be forwarding my information to you as soon as possible. I was in a chat the other day and many of the individuals there expressed that while I was joking, I had a thing going with my mini product promoting breaks. 🙂 Where can I submit inquiries?

Do we need to be in the Chi-Town area, or can we do this from home? I would love to do this, but I’m in Jersey. If that is not a problem I am so on board!

I’m in the Windy City, or should I say, Rainy City.
Stephanie!
Girrrrrrrrrrrl – I feel you! Fortunately, I got a full-time employee free of charge through the Put Illinois to work program! I am also pursuing, however, interns through local colleges. The type of assistance that you and I seek would provide great resume experience for students of web and graphic design and marketing. I encourage you to put together a job description and contact local colleges that have a curriculum related to your needs.
