Bellas and fellas, I need a little break. I have been working on one of those long posts for y’all (Side Hustlin’, coming soon), but it feels like my life’s moving faster than my fingers can. As I said yesterday, my parents are in town for the month, my work deadlines don’t move for anybody, and besides all of that I’m trying to fit in as much Afrobella time as possible. But tonight, I’m throwing it all to the wind and letting my hair down. I’m abandoning all responsibility and going to see this fierce bella right here!
I. Cannot. Wait. I’ve only seen Erykah once — 1999 at the Bob Marley Festival here in Miami. To prove how absolutely long ago that was, Lauryn Hill was the headliner and she brought out her little baby Zion to serenade him with “a new song off her latest album.”. My, what a difference a decade has made.
Erykah’s touring with The Roots, and I love, love, love The Roots so much. They put it down so hard, and the band is just tight. I’m ready for a sick performance by two of my favorite artists. I’ll be back with a fresh post tomorrow to tell you all about it!
Here I come!
My homie Jonathan Cunningham interviewed Questlove, and wrote an interesting article leading up to tonight’s performance. Click here to read it!

Enjoy Erykah! I love her. I saw her with the Rock the Bells tour last year, loved her live. She is so fierce. Never seen The Roots but I want to see them. I believe they may be coming back to Atlanta (if they haven’t come already, oye!) so I might try and look into seeing them.
have FUN!

My queen Erykah, I saw her in Baltimore May 10, 2008…all I can saw is WOW! My 21st b-day was this past Friday and she was phenomenal! I initially had lawn seats but I ran up towards the front when she came out…even got to sing with her when she got off stage….all i need now is to meet Queen Jill…and My life is complete…Enjoy Bella!

I just saw Ms. Badu and The roots in Boston and I can say the experience is life-changing. She has grown so much as a performer and she has this retro-future performance art vibe to her whole set that is so refreshing. Her voice is strong, her style is FEROCIOUS, and have I mentioned her bellas as back-up?!?! They couyld have their own show! ENJOY! Love LOVE LOVE your blog!

I saw this show a few weeks ago in NY and it was indescribable!!! I was beyond inspired when I left up outta that piece. Enjoy!!!

saw Ms Badu and the Roots this month at Radio City and they RIPPED IT. i was never really in my seat -it was all i could do to not dance right there and block the view of the folks behind me!!
(instead i got into some very official chair grooving)
the Roots stage show is thrilling body-moving experience. never thought id see someone rock out w a tuba but they did!! if ?uestlove does an aftterconcertparty in your area its a must. in NY he played EVERYTHING — a song from each of the Jacksons! Chost Town DJ’s! AL Green! Al B Sure!
and of course Badu brought the BIZNESS, from the images ive seen from her other venues shes keeping the same routines so no spoilers here. but two words for ya: “Interpertive Dance”. no seriously.
ENJOY IT BELLA!

Ok, I’ll add to the Badu sightings. I just saw this tour in D.C. and it was fun! Be prepared for some crazy, bold Erykah stuff. It will make you laugh.

I caught that show in DC and it was ridiculous!! I dragged my sister to the show who isn’t exactly an Erykah Badu fan, after the show she said “that girl is good and crazy, but she put on one hell of a show!!”…I don’t even have to mention the Roots because they kill it every single time I see them!

She is the TRUTH!! I saw her in NYC 2 weeks ago – hellofagreat show!!!! – if I wasn’t a true fan before I AM NOW!!!! she did the damn thing – “Power to the People” someone in the audience told her – “Do It Bitch”. .. she was like uuuuuh thank you, I guess. . . Nobody do Badu like Badu do!!!!
The Roots were good too. . . Cap’t. Kirk is the man. I’m going to see Jill Scott at Carnegie Hall in June – can’t wait.

Have a great time, girl! I’m gearing up to see her in Oakland in a few, SO excited. First time to see her and The Roots. Please post a review! I read Rich’s @ FourFour and he made the show sound fantastic.

Hey Afrobella!
I thought I was the only one who was resurrecting the CLASSIC BADU videos!
I put this one up a month ago with a post I wrote about black women and anger issues, titled, “Pardon Me, Will You Knock The Chip Off Of Your Shoulder?”
Please, continue show us your Badu-ness!!
Peace, blessings and DUNAMIS!

I’m gonna go see Ms. Badu & the Roots on June 12th. They’ll be here in LA at the Greek. Outside. Should be dope. I catch The Roots everytime they’re here, one of my favorites, but I haven’t seen Erykah since her first album. Looking forward to it.
