Good grief, I am such a slacker. I haven’t named an Afrobella of the Week in two weeks! That’s what I get for giving myself another deadline, I suppose. I mentioned that the latest Afrobella of the Week would be an unusual choice. And I guess she’s not a beauty in the conventional sense, but she always looks good as hell. Ladies and germs, I present to you Miss Wanda Sykes. I love Wanda! She’s funny, fierce, and fly.
Check out my girl in Pootie Tang, for example- one of our favorite movies. I can’t tell y’all how many times I’ve seen Pootie Tang, and you can’t tell me that Biggie Shorty wasn’t a bad bitch (in a good way).
Wah dah tah!
Wanda makes the perfect foil in so many comedic roles. If I see that she’s part of a film or television show, I know that it will be at least 40% funnier than I had previously assumed. Because of Wanda, I will be giving The New Adventures of Old Christine a shot.
Wanda’s become the go-to sassy black woman, and she takes those supporting roles and steals the show. The role I enjoy her in the most is on Curb Your Enthusiasm. I love how she just shows up at the perfect time to call Larry David on his racism.
Now she’s gone completely natural and I think she looks beautiful. She’s rocking the highlights, and her hair is short and oh so pretty. It suits her persona so much more than ever before.
I can’t wait for Wanda’s latest HBO special, Sick and Tired. Judging from her recent appearance on Jay Leno (in which she made me laugh so hard I cried, with her jokes about that sick bastard Mark Foley), she’s in top form.
Congratulations, Wanda! You’re Afrobella of the Week!

Diamond, I believe the show was called Wanda At Large, and then there was Wanda Does It. She doesn’t seem to work well on her own, and I agree that she isn’t for everybody. But she makes a great comic foil, as she proves in Curb. Her facial expressions alone make me cackle.

I agree that she works better as a comic foil. She was hilarious as Jane Fonda’s assistant in the movie with Jennifer Lopez and Michael Vartan (the name escapes me). Glad to see her the natural hair, she looks so good. It does suit her personality much better. Go Wanda!

I love Wanda, she’s been one of my favorites since the Chris Rock show. I have to say I really like her natural look too,and of course she’s always gonna be fly.

She is totally better as a supporting actor. Alone…she’s just okay. Remember that movie she was in with Chris Rock, where she played a maid. fun nee!

I thought I was the only one that loved Pootie Tang!

She is so hilarious. I just have to share this video of her on the Jay Leno show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv6ELl1f898

Wanda is sooo funny, I remember watching one of her shows and she was at a bar w/two annoying friends. The bartender asked, “What are you having?” and she replied, “Can I get a gun and two bullets!”.
I fell out. She is a fool.

I love her hair now. The highlights accentuate her golden brown skin color. Looks natural and goes with her stage persona.
I want the color. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know.

I think Wanda Sykes is funnier as a supporting actor. However, I commend her afforts.
