A year ago, the brilliant KarlaSugar came to me with an idea. She wanted beauty bloggers to donate products for an auction site she was creating. The site was to be called BeautyBloggers.org and 100% of the proceeds were to go to the highly respectable charity Doctors Without Borders. Of course I said yes immediately. The call to action brought to mind a quote that I live by — “To whoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.”
The top beauty and fashion bloggers are drowning in product, some of which could be put to more beneficial use once we’ve written about it. We’re in a position of power in that particular regard. What better way to give back, than to use the products we don’t need that are highly coveted by consumers, to raise funds for a charity that helps people around the world in such a meaningful manner? To quote Karla, “We chose Doctors Without Borders because women are always disproportionately affected in any disaster. This organization is committed to bringing medical care to people in crisis, regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. It’s a charity that everyone can get behind.”
Most definitely.
This year, bloggers and brands have contributed to the cause and the auction items are better than ever. Armani, Bobbi Brown, Guerlain, Lancome, MAC, Urban Decay. Bare Escentuals, Chanel, Chantecaille and Cle de Peau. Cult Nails and Dior and Neiman Marcus, the ultimate experience WHAT??
This year I’ve donated my entire Miss Piggy for MAC collection — currently the bid is $45 and I hope to see that amount increase by the time the auction ends on Monday, December 12. Click here to get to bidding, bellas!

Do you know of anything a non-blogger can do with their unused or slightly used beauty products? I hate throwing things away and asking people I personally know if they want my used stuff. It would be nice just to give away and I don’t think Salvation Army and such take these kinds of things. If they do, great. But hoping you will have a better suggestion. peace

This a great idea your friend had! Hopefully this will raise a lot of money for that organization. With the incessant conflicts around the world this past year, their resources must be stretched horribly thin.
