Sometimes, being a beauty blogger is about trying the hottest new beautifying thing on the market. Other times, it involves feeling like a guinea pig and trying some truly um… unique products. Let me tell you about some of the most interesting body washes I’ve had the opportunity to try.
Big Bad Mama Biker Bath products come in a variety of scents that most people might not want to smell like… in public, anyway. Jailbait? Herb? Beer? Weed? These body washes and bath fizzes might make perfect gag gifts for those crazy college friends you had back in the day. But other than that… who wants to smell like booze and reefer?
The good news is, these body washes don’t literally smell like you’d expect. I had the chance to try the beer body wash and there is that underlying smell, but it’s sweeter and more feminine than say, Heineken. I guess it I had to choose an actual beer this stuff smelled like, it’d be one of those fruity, or rose-infused beers they sell at Whole Foods. Not exactly what a Bad Biker Mama might order at a bar, but hey — it’s not the worst body wash I’ve ever tried. For $12.99, this stuff comes in a real brown beer bottle, so be careful with it in your shower stall. Bad Biker mama also makes edible massage oil, Mojo Mist, bath fizz, and biker groove lube lotion, which promises to be “the most delicious lotion you ever poured out of a beer bottle.” I certainly hope so.
Everyone who knows me by now, knows that I am always looking out for small businesses owned by bellas on the come up. So when I was contacted by Patrice, creator of The Soap Seduction, I was immediately psyched — not only do we share a name, but we share a love for unusual soaps! The Soap Seduction is your one-stop shop for soaps shaped like cupcakes or sheep or kitty cats. Soap Seduction soaps are excellent quality — most of them are made with a moisturizing cocoa butter base, and she also makes goat’s milk soaps for those of you who are into that. And I’m happy to report that these soaps are divinely scented. The lemon meringue soap is TO DIE FOR, and the cupcake soaps look and smell almost like the real thing. I was very impressed, and at like, $6 a pop, these would make an adorable gift for your girlfriend who’s on a die-with-a-t and moaning about all the goodies she can’t enjoy.
When a person representing Pattern body wash contacted me about reviewing their product, I was immediately intrigued. “Simply the finest all natural skin cleanser,” they boast, and the company is all about super gentle, all natural moisturizing body washes. Sounds delightful, right? Pattern comes in four scents — Citrus, Cucumber, Eucalyptus, and Black Pepper. Pattern takes their scents pretty literally.
The cucumber wash hardly smells like anything. I didn’t want an artificial, too-strong Bath and Body Works-esque cucumber scent… but c’mon, give me something memorable to lather myself with here! This cucumber was too bland for me. Citrus is delightful and bright, not too sweet, not too sharp. Definitely my favorite of the four. Eucalyptus is a sure-fire sinus clearer, akin to Kiss My Face Shower/Bath Gel Cold & Flu wash. I was the most intrigued by the black pepper variety, and it was the most surprising. At first sniff, I was taken aback. This stuff smells spicy and sexy, and very, very manly — like a strong men’s cologne. My husband absolutely loved it, and went through the whole bottle in no time flat. And it smelled great on him, but was waaaaaay too pungent for me. Pattern is $20 a bottle, and will definitely appeal to folks with a preference for all-natural shopping. Interesting stuff, but I wish they’d come out with more scents — might I suggest a range of florals for the ladies? Or fruit-inspired scents?
And last but certainly not least on the “interesting washes” list, here’s something super specific. Sweet Spot Labs, specializes in scented cleansers for… well, doesn’t the name say it all? Although I hear it’s advised to generally steer clear of sprays and scented soaps, Sweet Spot’s pitch is all about Ph balance, through “mild cleansers,” and “soothing botanicals with essential oils.” The gentle wash lives up to its name, and comes in unscented, basil grapefruit, citrus galbanum, and my fave, geranium lavender — so you can make your flower smell like a flower, if you’re into that sort of thing.
What’s the weirdest body wash or soap you’ve ever tried? Do you have a favorite?

Weirdest bubble bath/body wash I’ve ever tried? These homemade soaps that my parents brought back from some trip. They smelled like coca cola and were colorized and had little toys in them.

The strangest wash i’ve ever tried and loved has got to be PHILIP B. THAI TEA BODYWASH. This stuff is $40 a bottle (seriously?! YES.) but it lasts forever-a little goes a long moisturizing, sudsing way. It smells divine, with lemongrass and ginger, and the scent lingers after your shower. Yeah, its pricey, and the smell makes you almost want to eat it or run out for Thai….but its great stuff.
Just HIDE IT when your guests come over. I ain’t trying to share my $40 a bottle ANYTHING with houseguests. That’s what the Caress is for!

I LOVE the Soap Seduction! What a great idea! I need to scrounge up some pennies and order that yummy banana split bar!
The weirdest soap I’ve ever tried was a maple bacon soap. Disgusting.

The Soap Seduction soaps sound so good I don’t think I’d end up using it.. I’m a big fan of soaps, shower gels, ESPECIALLY lotions!

Maple bacon soap? Wow. I thought I was funny for wanting the “bacon” bandaids. 🙂
The Soap Seduction sounds perfect for the “pretty” soaps I want to put in my batroom for guests! Now that my bath is all renovated I am all about adding the final touches! I have before and after pics on my site.

Great post Bella! I’m curious to smell that beer & weed bodywash–what interesting scents to say the least! I have never tried any crazy soap or body wash. I usually use the regular body washes like Caress, Dove, St. Ives, Bath and Body Works…or a generic version of one of them! lol

@ Maleficent, thank you for spreading the word on Philip B, i’ve been thinking about scoring the body wash, his African Shea Butter Shampoo is the star of my rotation.
The body wash that keeps me coming back is Nubian Heritage’s Olive and Green Tea, the scent is complex and soothing,it contains shea butter, olive butter, and avocado oil, yeah it’s that good.

I love Lush’s line of soaps, bodywashes, bath bombs…. They have some of everything for your bathing needs. I like the flying fox bodywash which is loaded with Jasmine. They also have these things called bath jellies that are actually like Jell-o. Big Comfy (I thinks that’s the name) smells like pineapples and coconuts. Ummmmm! lol.
All of their products are cruelty free and marked if safe for vegan use.

Thanks for the shout out Ms. Bella! I’m in the kitchen whipping up some new scrumptious goodies now-all guilt and calorie-free!

Wow, these sound great. I may have to check them out.
I don’t usually try body washes cuz I have way to many allergic reactions to them. But I’ll approach these w/caution

Wow! Those soaps are so cute! And I would have never thought that there are body washes that are placed in beer bottles! How interesting is that! I love it. Thanks for sharing.
