I’ve been a fan of Australian-based fashion brand City Chic Online for years now — their aesthetic tends to be unique, interesting and sometimes a bit edgy. Plus, the clothes I’ve tried have all truly been of quality. So when the challenge came to style some looks for fall, holiday, and winter into spring, I sprang at the chance! One thing I’ve had to figure out in Chicago around this time of year –what to wear when it’s cold, windy and bleak. How to lift your own spirits with style that works with, not against the weather. This is just the first of several City Chic looks I’ll be featuring on the blog, shot by my husband Steve Yursik on a windy day in Chicago. Here we go!
Here I’m wearing the following pieces, found on City Chic Online —
Marble Tee (now on sale)!
The purse is vintage Betsey Johnson and I’ve had it for years!
My plus size bellas, if you’re concerned about fit I can assure you that everything here is true to size — I’m a 20 L in everything you see here (that’s typically a 2X).
If you’re concerned about price vs quality, let me assure you there! These are pieces that should last, and I say that as someone who is picky with pleather pieces. While I do sometimes wear genuine leather, in general my heartfelt preference is to be cruelty free with my fashion choices. If I can find a lovely, luxurious faux fur or faux leather, I’m all about it! Pleather can sometimes be hit or miss with quality, and sometimes it can be stiff and uncomfortable. But not this skirt or this jacket! You’ll see, they’ve got swing!
Like I said, it was super windy! A great, sunny day in the city to get out and around and shoot some looks that can translate between seasons.
This jacket is timeless and chic and can go with so many looks! The quality of the pleather is soft and it just feels great on. I’m gonna rock this a LOT.
The tee is super soft and the kind of thing you can dress up or down depending on your mood. I’m all about a classy allover print. It has short sleeves, but I’d layer this over a thermal and under a jacket, that way you can rock it year round.
This skirt is a keeper, a great length to transition between seasons! As it gets colder here in the Chicago, I’d rock this with fleece leggings and bold flat boots. When it warms up again, I’d rock this with sheer colored tights or bare legs as you see here. Plus it travels well — I used a light steamer on the inside to get out the folds from packaging. That’s it.
This is the first of a few looks we shot around town, so stay tuned for more of my City Chic Online looks! And click here to shop for these pieces yourself. They’re always having deep discounts and even deeper sales at City Chic Online!
Thanks to City Chic for the opportunity.
I’m trying to do more OOTD posts to inspire myself (and hopefully others) to push ourselves out of our comfort zone. Let me know if you like it!
This post features affiliate links from City Chic Online, but the opinions and style are all my own!

P! I love this look. The black looks so chic and the pleated skirt is perfect—it’s so on trend right now. I’ve been looking for one like that myself. And cute shots! I love the fun wall.

The skirt is something I’m going to look into purchasing!
