Bellas, as you may know, I go back with the MAC Cosmetics folks for quite some time now. So when they hit me up to let me know a special collection was soon to be released, and asked me if I’d be interested in checking it out early — of course I said YES. Especially once I knew what the collection was about. I am HERE for #MACTaraji!
Isn’t that photo gorgeous? Evocative of Diana Ross. So hot!
I’ve been a fan of Taraji P. Henson since Baby Boy and Hustle & Flow, and now on Empire as the inimitable (and practically unintimidatable) Cookie Lyon, she has hit her stride. Her new movie, Hidden Figures, looks amazing! Taraji is the people’s champion. She is beloved because of her grace, her powerful personality, her radiant confidence. Taraji is IT. And her MAC collection brings bronzy, golden magic to bellas all shades of beautiful. Let me break it on down.
Taraji P. Henson’s collection includes 6 products:
Lipstick — Strip Me Down, a deep tone beige (matte) — SRP $17.
Mineralize Skinfinish — Taraji Glow, reddish brown — SRP $33
Mineralize Skinfinish — The Truth, soft bronze coral with golden shimmer — SRP $33
And these three are repromotions:
Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash — SRP $23 (LOVE this mascara, BTW)
Penultimate Eye Liner Rapidblack — SRP $21
Brush 187 — SRP $42
I was sent three items — the two gorgeous Mineralize Skinfinish products, and the lipstick. AND a personalized note from Taraji that I will treasure forever!
Of the three items I was sent, I’d say the Mineralize Skinfinishes are the MUST HAVES. The lipstick is a beautiful nude for brown girls that looks gorgeous on Taraji in the official photo, but on my skintone it’s just a touch too pink for my personal style. See?

Middle Swatch — Lipstick — Strip Me Down
Bottom Swatch — Mineralize Skinfinish — The Truth
I’d be most likely to rock it over a deeper lip pencil. I shared my image via Instagram already, but here’s the breakdown here!
In the photo below, MAC makeup artist John Daniel Naughton (of the MAC Cosmetics store here in Chicago) layered it over Cork lip liner. He also recommended I try Chestnut with it. And we used the Mineralize Skinfinishes on my cheeks.
Thanks for the look and the photos, John! Thanks for sending the product, MAC. I have a feeling this will fly off the shelves when it’s available online — September 6, 2016! Mark your calendars, beauty lovers!
What do you think of #MACTaraji, bellas? See anything you need in your life?

Alright… so the Mineralize Skinfinish in The Truth and that lipstick… I think I need them in my life. I have some MAC gift card monies and been waiting for something I liked for awhile. Thank you for sharing 🙂
Monica
I love the collection, however I am very disappointed that Mac didn’t make new Limited Edition colors for Taraji’s first collection with them and is simply re-promoting products.

If mac does special packaging there is no pro discount granted. That’s probably why they didn’t do special packaging – they want ALLLLLL the MUA’s to buy – both novice and pro. The deeper skinfinish looks like format blush. Is it similar?
Melanin God

Love the look! Suits you perfectly. Can’t wait for the collection to hit the stores here.
Shelley
Too bad they didn’t include a nude that would be more flattering on brown skin girls.

I’m well pissed gyul. I bought the lipstick and said I can wait for the powders because MAC hasn’t sold out of anything in ages and it happened. Kicking myself, HARD.

@Monica, the powders and lipstick are brand new, not repromotes. The other stuff, yes. @Shelley, Strip Me Down is the perfect nude lipstick for brown girls. I love it!
