Summer’s here and the time is right for switching up those hair products. I don’t know about you, but my hair has special needs at this time of year. I need deeply penetrating moisture, I need light, creamy styling products to give my hair the nurturing sustenance it craves. Especially because I’m rocking blonde highlights, which can give natural curls a crunchy look of dryness.
For high heat and humidity, there are certain products I love and ingredients which benefit my tresses. Maybe you’re the same way. Let me share some of my favorite summer hairstylers that I’ve tried and tested, all made by brands that know what natural hair needs!
Oyin Hair Dew — tried and true classic by one of my absolute favorite natural hair and bodycare brands! My hair LOVES Hair Dew!
Bekura Honey Latte — have you tried Bekura yet? I love their EVERYTHING. Their bodycare products are superb, their hair products are truly special and unique, and this Honey Latte detangling hair milk is heaven sent.
TreLuxe Untie The Knot — based in Chicago and created by an adorable husband and wife team, TreLuxe’s Untie The Knot is fabulous for detangling and light moisture.
Mielle Organics Moisturizing Avocado Hair Milk — so far I’ve loved everything I’ve tried by Mielle Organics, and their avocado hair milk is amazing for a wide range of hair textures. Aloe vera and avocado FTW!
Beautiful Textures Tangle Taming Leave In Conditioner — seriously one of the best detangling leave-ins I’ve been lucky enough to try. One I go back to again and again.
Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave In Conditioner — In case you didn’t already know, Ouidad products rock for curls of many textures. This Moisture Lock might be my fave for summer. Prickly pear cactus extract draws moisture from the air, and seals it into your hair!
Oraje Sweet Treats Curly Girl Cream Parfait — You guys, Oraje’s hair products are SO GOOD! Everything he makes smells DELICIOUS and is made with true natural hair knowledge and excellent ingredients. His products will all make you want to eat them, I swear!
SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave In Conditioner — I’ll admit it, SheaMoisture has SO many varieties it can be hard to choose just one, or which to try first. If you’ve got thick, coily hair then you might love their Jamaican Black Castor Oil leave in as much as I do. This entire line is perfect for my texture!
Earth’s Nectar Coconut Curls — If you’ve been sleeping on Earth’s Nectar, consider this your wakeup call. This is a great indie black-owned brand and their products are worth the buy! Coconut Curls gives great light, leave-in summer moisture.
Camille Rose Coconut Water Style Setter — what can I say, my hair LOVES coconut! Camille Rose makes so many amazing products, but the coconut water line is what I reach for in hot, humid weather. This is one of my go-to summer style setters for sure.
These are 10 of my hot weather hair styling favorites for summer 2016. See any of your faves? Got any recommendations for me to try next? LMK in the comments below!

Hi. Thank you for the informative post. Most of the products listed I never heard of, but am curious to know if you ever used any of the Phytospecific line and if so what are your thoughts on the products. I had co workers years ago who swore by the products and said they work great on natural hair.
Thanks again for the information.

I have been using multiple products for years. I realized that is it more important to use natural products because it is safer. 🙂 just my 2 cents.

Thanks for sharing! I haven’t tried these products before. I am really afraid that will it for me? I don’t think so. I believe in natural that’s the reason I don’t got to salon.
