It happens every holiday season.
I get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of buying gifts for everyone else, that I forget to think about myself. The other day my husband asked me, “so…what do YOU want for Christmas?” and I seriously had to stop and think for longer than you’d expect.
Every Christmas there are the gift items we give to each other that are different, fun, and unexpected. And then there are a few items we give each other than are a family tradition. Here’s what I’m hoping I’ll find under the tree this Christmas – fingers crossed that my family reads this blog post!
— An elegant silk bathrobe.
I’ll admit it. I work from home, so there are mornings where I pretty much roll out of bed and into my home office. I spend more time than I care to admit in sweatpants and ratty only-for-home-or-gym tee shirts – so not cute for who I am or what I do. There’s definitely a time and a place for home clothes, but when you’re writing about beauty there are times when you want to feel more glamorous. I’d love a fabulous silky robe with which to get my Andre Leon Talley on. This Natori bathrobe from HerRoom.com or any of these from PajamaShoppe.com should do nicely!
— OTK leather boots.
I’ve decided this is my year for some HOT Over The Knee (OTK) boots for winter! The Curvy Fashionista turned me on to WideWidths.com, which is all about hot boots for plus sized calves and thighs – I would rock these Ros Hommerson flat boots all winter long!
— Jewelry for luck.
I’m a bit of a jewelry addict and my new obsession is with jewelry meant to be worn as a talisman for blessings and good luck. I absolutely love necklaces made with unusual stones like the items made by Linx by Mark Morton, or druzys and raw gems like those by Nina Nguyen, Natural Glam and Doolittle Jewelry, and I also love antique rosaries like those by Etsy vendor Novella. All powerful pieces with great energy.
— A massage, and then some.
Because of constant writing, my neck, shoulders and upper back are always TIGHT. I would love to someday live the life of a Barbra Streisand and just go “spa-ing, going from spa to spa,” but at present, that is not my reality. So I’d love to get one of those back massage chair thingies, like by Sharper Image or Brookstone.
— A winning lottery ticket
Every year for Christmas, my mother in law always gives each of us a lottery ticket. There’s something awesome about that possibility of your present being bigger than your wildest dreams that I just love. Lottery tickets make a fun stocking stuffer or present (especially when given to a bestie or family who might ahem, split those winnings with you). The Illinois Lottery Holiday Instant Tickets come in a bunch of Christmas themed options, like Holiday Cash, Jingle Bell Doubler, Candy Crossword, Seasons Winnings or Merry Millionaire instant tickets. I would not be mad to find any of them in a Christmas card or in my stocking this year! And hey, if I win, I can buy myself all of the above AND go spa-ing from spa to spa. WINNING on every level.
“Instant Gifts from the Illinois Lottery are a great way to spread cheer and celebrate the season. Share them all with your friends and family and bring a little Anything’s Possible™ to your holiday festivities.
Founded in 1974, the Illinois Lottery has contributed more than $17.5 billion to the state Common School Fund to assist K-12 public schools, as well as the Capital Projects Fund. Play responsibly. Players must be at least 18 years old.”
That’s my holiday wish list – give or take a few sweaters and blazers! What do YOU want to see under the tree this year?

I am here with you on the robe. I think it is one of the best gifts anyone can receive.

I am with you and love boots for the cold days. I like the tall Bearpaw boots that are shearling lined. They keep my feet warm and are so comfortable to wear during the cold days. They look great with skinny jeans tucked into them.

Every year I buy myself something special that I know my family isn’t able to afford to get me. This year it’s a toss up between the new Canon T4i or a Macbook cover by Twelve south. I love looking at people’s Christmas lists. Thanks for sharing yours.
