If you’re one of the folks who isn’t on Twitter, then let me tell you – the natural hair community is vibrant and vocal there! Every Sunday night at 8 pm EST/9 pm Central, there’s a lively chat where members use the hashtag #naturalhair to share comments, feedback and inspiration. And today, January 2, has been deemed #naturalhair day on Twitter! The goal is to tweet the hashtag #naturalhair enough that it becomes a trending topic.
The concept was originally the brainchild of Ansylla of MyHairitage (AKA @MyHairitage on Twitter) and Camille Reed of the Noire Salon in Silver Spring, MD (she goes by @Noireboss1).
Camille explains, “Naturalhair Day is designed as positive, supportive event to counteract some of the sardonic trending topics that appear on Twitter.”
So today if you’re on Twitter and you wear locs, loose natural hair, you have a TWA, you’re ready to transition…whatever your natural pleasure, just tweet and use the hashtag #naturalhair. Share your photos and insight, questions and advice. You’ll be supporting a positive cause and joining a wonderful community!
I missed #naturalhair day on the Twitter, but I thought today is good as any to revel in all thangs natural because I’ve decided (I actually decided last year) that I’m going natural (which I have gone bagginfoaf before, but this time it will be for good) in 2011. I haven’t decided the exact time I will do a chop (though I did decide this most recent creamy crack touchup is my last one) as I am diving into lots of natural hair research (especially transitioning) but I wanted to drop by and say thanks for providing such a great forum. I’m loving all the info so far.

can i get more info on where to “find” the chat?
sorenzobeads had mentioned it to me, but i am fairly newish to twitter, and don’t know the in’s and out’s of it.
i ended up getting on the road, so i didn’t actually see if the tag made it to trending topic status yesterday, did it?
You can “find” it by searching Twitter. Just place “#naturalhair” in the search tab and you will see all the tweets that include this hashtag. You can then “save the search” for easy reference! See you there!
