She’s drop dead gorgeous with legs that go on forever…and an amazingly sunny, friendly, warm attitude to go with it!
I’ve been an admirer of Tennessee-born model Wakeema Hollis from afar, but this incredible interview by Vogue Black – done by the legendary Bethann Hardison – charmed me completely. Hollis is the kind of beautiful, friendly Southern bella that I’d love to hang out with.
Now she simply goes by her last name, “because it’s easier, people can pronounce it, it’s user friendly, and nobody gets it confused.” And her views on being a successful model are so genuine and helpful, even if you’re not in that industry.
Hollis: “It is a hard industry to break in. There’s constantly something going on.there’s contstant rejection. You cannot please all the people all the time. So you have to be true to you. And I think this helped me to always stay very appreciative of where I am, and what I have, and what I’m doing.
Bethann: Because you’re living in the now?
Hollis: “I like to keep my feet firmly planted on the ground.”
In the future, Hollis dreams of owning her own business, returning to her roots, and passing on the knowledge she’s gained. Love that!

Ms. Hollis is very stunning, and her hair is beautiful. She definitely has the model look. I love the comment that she made about “keeping her feet firmly planted on the ground.” She was so right on with that message. We as women of color are so talented, and blessed. History demonstrates that we are survivors, and can do whatever our hearts desire. To all my sisters, keep on striving with your feet planted on solid ground. Walk by Faith, and not by sight!
God Bless.
