Just when I get to wondering where she’s been, she pops up someplace random. Like Australia.
And most recently, the elusive Miss Hill popped up on the red carpet in Manhattan, for a special charity event. It’s like seeing a unicorn!
Thanks to my Twitter amiga Divalocity of Afrolistas and the City, I got hipped to this post at Ebony Intuition – photo via those blogs. Thanks, ladies!! Check out Ebony Intuition for even more photos from the event. I need Millet’s clutch ASAP!
Lauryn attended the Tanzania Education Trust’s New York Gala hosted by President Jakaya Kikwete of the United Republic of Tanzania at Plaza Athenee last night, and looked serene, womanly, self possessed and a tad demure in her garb. I’d describe it as convent chic. Her skirt reminds me of this lovely young lady I saw on State St. this weekend, who was clad head to toe in items from Retroscope Fashions. Eye catching and unique, to say the least.
Is this the beginning of a Lauryn Hill renaissance? Or should I not dare to dream? What are your thoughts on Lauryn’s red carpet appearance?
Kris Conesa
Lauryn Hill is one of the most amazing, thought provoking artists of our time and it’s a tragedy of immeasurable magnitude that we’re forced to resort to sightings a rare as a unicorn these day. It’s saddens me for the planet.

I think she looks good. Its good to see her out, hopefully she will be making more appearances. I miss her presence & I am so ready to hear something new from her. Her hair looks very nice too.

One can only hope & pray that she will come back…I don’t even wanna get my hopes up too high. LOVE HER ALWAYS…

I think she’s coming back on the scene. We waited for her at last years Montreux Jazz Festival but she was not there. I see music on the horizon, don’t you? Afrobella, I’m still smiling just to see her looking fantabulous!
Thanks for the blog love, it’s a shame that the other’s can’t do the same thing. Oh Well, life goes on.
Anya
WOW… my jaw dropped… she looks so different… I don’t even know what to say but I just had to comment
Soyini
She can make a comeback and it would be amazing. She looks really healthy and happy in that red carpet picture. Very nice.

I keep hoping she’ll come back and make another album… I kinda miss her locks, but she looks beautiful in the photo.
Christine
It is great to see her performing once again. Her hair looks good totally different though. I wish she would come out with another album too.

Relating her to a unicorn is perfect but brings up a problem.
Do you ignore her so as not to startle her back into hiding OR do you swoon over her to show her how appreciative you are?
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. But damn, Lauryn, share your songs with us again please.
Black Honey
She looks beautiful. What do you thing about her hair? Is it relaxed? Maybe she did a roller set on natural hair?
I can’t tell.
miss smith
i was wondering the same thing @black honey!
if it’s a roller set, i think i would like to try that on my own hair. looks similar to another afrobella Twanna of Funky Brown Chick.

She looks so different without the locks but she has this demure look about her. Where is the fire! She still looks good and I will be glad to hear her again.
Kat
I’m glad to see her. and I’m interested in trying a roller set too! Thanks Afrobella!
Maybe we should have a “Laurynwatch” or a “Fill-in-the-blank-watch” for all the unicorn-types. I’d put Grace Jones in that category too…

I think she’s as beautiful as always. I like how she managed to have on a million layers and not look a mess. Her makeup is good and her hair is beautiful. I’m very upset about those eyebrows(always gotta be negative lol). It’s ok to have thick eyebrows, but if you saw them upclose they look a mess! She should have trimmed them or brushed them. She would have been flawless if she had. But I am glad to see her out so that’s a plus.
Jewelry Rockstar
Like seeing a Unicorn… hilarious. She looks very very happy!

Lauryn is my #1 icon! I mean fashion, beauty, creative spark… just on so many levels. It’s funny that when I say that some people are like really, as if they’ve forgotten just how good this woman is for the earth. She just has never, ever felt reminiscent of anyone else to me, and that is hard for an artist to achieve in this day and age. I think she looks great on the red carpet. I love her hair and the lip she’s working! I just watched a movie about Georgia O’Keefe and she is giving me that same iconoclast energy.
I’ve learned to never say never, so I hope someday for any incarnation of Lauryn. I’m just glad that the old never feels old with her so I can enjoy her in a fresh way every time I need to listen.

Lauryn was critical for my development as a teen/young adult but if she needs to stay out of the public eye to be well, I understand. She looks fab but her fit looks like she intentionally tried to take any attention away from herself.

Hello 🙂
where can i buy light bulbs made in the usa
The shade of this lamp comes with different colors like green, black,
brown and yellow. Compact fluorescent lights,
or CFLs, are fluorescent bulbs for use in standard fixtures which represent the home
lighting version of the long used fluorescent tube lights.
CFL lights bulbs will appropriately supply the right amount of
light that is required for indoor plant cultivation.
