I love her hair. I love her style. And that voice just sweeps me away. Anyone who’s been reading this blog for a while knows how much I love Corrine Bailey Rae. I’ve been rooting for her glorious comeback, and now all of us fans are in for a treat. Her new album, The Sea, will be released January 26, and she recently performed the lead single, “I’d Do It All Again,” on Later…With Jools Holland.
That gave me chills. Gorgeous. Love it.
The Sea promises to deliver a unvarnished and unfettered Corrine, a raw and emotional album that speaks to the tragic experiences she’s had in recent years. I cannot wait.
And purely on a superficial note, I really-really-really want to know what hair products she’s using.
What do you think of this song, bellas? Does it hit you in the gut like it did for me, or are you going to wait to see what else she’s serving up on her new album when it drops next month?

Saw her perform last night in NYC and her hair really is gorgeous. She palyed primarily from the new album and the title track “The Sea” is just amazing.

Girl, her hair is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!
And that is no joke. I saw her here in NYC on Monday (we’re both on Corinne’s vibe today) and I was amazed at how her hair has grown and it looks beautiful! She sounded amazing as well. It was a great soiree and I am really looking forward to the release. The songs are divine!
BK
wow!!! I can’t wait for the album to drop!

Agreed, her hair is amazing.
I enjoy her raw emotion and provocative lyricism. I’m sure this album will be even more impressive than her first was.
I must add that my favorite outing from her thus far is her track on Herbie Hancock’s album, “River: The Joni Letters.” Stops me in my tracks every time I hear it. If you’ve heard it, you’ll know what I’m talking about. If not, do yourself a favor and give it a listen.

She’s beyond fabulous! I went to her show on Monday as well and snagged some shots:

She played a new song “Paris Nights/New York Mornings” that I was really in love with. The whole set was great, it’s nice to see her back 🙂

Miss Corrine had me at “Girl Put Your Records On..”! I’m so glad she’s back:) It’s lookin’ good for my kind of music- first Whitney, then Sade now Corrine. If only Rachelle Ferrell would bless us with a new recording… (just wishing out loud)
Shameka
“Like a Star” is one of my favorite songs. I’ll be waiting on the album.

I don’t know if anyone notice, but all the truly talented singers and/or musicians, who we have not heard from in a looong time, seem to be making a comeback next year with their albums. I think 2010 is going to be the comeback of the talented performers who are diversify in their own style.
“I am so excited and I just can’t hide it….” LOL 🙂

I love the song. She’s so vulnerable and real in it. Of course her look is amazing too. She’s so gorgeous.

There was a song she did in NY, I think it’s titled ‘Closer’; so hauntingly beautiful. I cannot WAIT for this album.
And yes, I need a hair interview from her too.

I had no idea she was performing in NYC. So sad I missed it. She is so talented, the music is full, the lyrics deep. Just great work all around!
Chelle
I’ve missed cbr too. I’m kinda jealous that people in NYC got a chance to see her to see her perform live. Maybe she will come to my town, or better yet I can make it a road trip.
Usually, I am very slow about purchasing music. However, I think I might have to get the new album when it comes out in January. Thanks, Afrobella for the info.
Kemi
I knew knew knew you’d have the first hit on this tune!
I love Corrine Bailey Rae — from her first album, and her heartbreaking loss just had me feeling for her. . . I wish her much success and in light of the year she had, this song really really got to me. . And at work no less! oy vey!
And ‘Bella — the first thing I did was come over here to see if you knew what she was doing with her gorgeous hair! LOL
bella
Kemi, you know me! LOL! I will do my bestest to interview Corinne and see if I can ask her the hair questions we’re all dying to know!
