At Rock the Bells, I had so much fun that I lost my camera. I was pretty bummed out. My sister asked me if I reported it to the cops, or festival organizers, anything… I honestly just kind of threw up my hands. At a big concert, what are the odds of finding your lost possession again? Slim to none, I was convinced.
I mentioned it in passing in my concert review with absolutely no expectations. I honestly didn’t expect to hear back from anyone. But this weekend, an e mail from a lady named Mayted popped up in my inbox. Get this — she found my camera in the bathroom, and didn’t want to leave it behind for someone to steal, so she left a note with her phone number on it. She was about to post a found camera notice on Craigslist, when she decided to Google “found Flip video camera Miami Rock the Bells” instead. Et voila. Rarely does an e mail make me scream with delight. This one definitely did!!
We made arrangements to meet up this week, and I wanted to reward her kindness with a small token of my appreciation. But Mayted refused my offer! I was honestly surprised and touched. Living in Miami, the city with the rudest drivers in America, you don’t expect people to just be super nice off the bat for no reason. Mayted and her husband — Latin Grammy winning recording artist Jorge Moreno, restored my faith in humanity.
Thanks to them, I am reunited with my camera, and I can finally post the encore of The Pharcyde’s performance at Rock the Bells. Being all lit up like a Christmas tree as I was, I think my thumb was covering the microphone at times. It’s a bit muffled and distant, and definitely not the best concert video you’ve ever seen, not by a longshot. But when I lost my camera, in my rose-colored memory I thought this was the best video clip EVAH, and I swore to myself if I ever got my camera back I’d share it with the world. And I’m a woman of my word.

What a wonderful story! What are the odds of that? The video like you said isn’t that great but it brings back great memories of a great song. (I wouldn’t have done any better) but You had me singing the words to a song that I thought I had forgotten. Looks as if you had a grand time…

ceecee, it’s adorable, easy to use, and it’s $150. I definitely wanted to get this one back because it was my Glam Award, but if it was lost forever, I would have rebought it. The Flip is the bomb in my book.

I went to Rock the Bells in DC and it was awesome! Pharcyde killed it but TCQ definitely made the concert worthwhile. I actually just ordered the Flip Mino yesterday. I’m so excited to see everyone posting videos on their blogs with it. I know I picked a good pocket camera.
