i agree with maggie, liz and niki…
shes only two! i think some flavored chapstick or something is harmless enough, but she really doesnt need to have makeup kits or perfume spritzes and cosmetic bags at this age. why introduce her to these products that she most obviously doesnt need? (there are lots of other “fun” things for girls to enjoy, no?)
i would say get her something like smackers (check the label first, but i first used it around lowerschool i think) and call it a day.
little girls dont need makeup to be little bellas!

I will co-sign with getting her something safe and colorless or with very sheer color for her lips (like Burt’s Bees, that clear very shiny gloss that’s been in the Avon catalog for ages (forgot the name), or the flavored, colorless lip balms to play around with or go out with. My little niece is about that age and she enjoys at home “spa days” with her auntie. I let her pick out what color polish she wants and I paint her toenails (I don’t like to put it on her fingers because kids still have their hands in their mouths quite a bit). I agree about not letting the little ones grow up to fast, but if she’s just in the house and playing dress up, it’s fine.

I’m sure the other ladies had awesome suggestions for ya so I don’t have one. . but she is TOOO CUTE!!! OMG Just wrap her up and give her at christmas. . she is adorable.

Oh my! Those big eyes, those cheeks! Cutie-patootie –in the words of Rosie. My niece who is just pushing 2 walks around with her grandma’s lotion, and carries her purse on her forearm like a little ‘ol lady. Even though I don’t want her to grow up so fast — which I’m sure you can relate to — it’s so cute. And it makes me excited that when she’s older…I think I found myself a great shopping partner! Whoo wee!

I feel you, Liz - she’s just TWO! So young, and so fascinated, so transfixed by watching her mom, grandma, and aunties put on makeup. I don’t recall being as into makeup as young as that, she is definitely a little princess from early. Perhaps she’ll go through a tomboy phase later on?

Ok, well you can’t deny this cutie pie is adorable…but am I the only one who has some issues with little girls and make-up kits? Why do we have to socialize them at such a young age to paint their lips and face to be more “beautiful”. I know, I know girls just wanna have fun, but I think these subtle messages impact girls and women. Having said this, I have to admit that this girl is ADORABLE:)
