I didn’t expect to find a video for this song, it’s too old. So the best I could do is post a YouTube clip of her album cover, with the song bubbling in the background. No matter – this is one of my favorite songs of all time and I hope you can get with it. Big respect to Sister Nancy. She’s a lady, she’s not a man. MC is her ambition.
I’m gonna be grooving to this all day. Enjoy, bellas and fellas!

I’m doing the Bubblin’ & Whine at my desk… Hope no one comes over here… Thanks for the song. One of my favorites!
Good morning Bella,
I’ve never heard of Sister Nancy before today and I tell ya….I like the song and the beat is amazing to me. I’m glad I came across your site. I’ll be jamming all day…..take care!!!!!
I have never heard of Sister Nancy either, but for some reason, the song sounds familiar. This is definitely a song you’d WANT to get stuck in your head.
I’m loving it Bella! You have me swaying and moving at my desk! Great throwback jam!
I’ve never heard of her either. Reminded me of Lauryn Hill a little.
Baad tune! This is definitely an anthem for the ladies! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the song you might remember it from the movie Belly,it was played when they went to get the assassin “Qita” in Jamaica (real member of the infamous Jamaican dance crew, The Ouch Crew)to kill Biggs (Louie Rankin).
P.S. This is a great site, I read it almost everyday! Keep up the great work!
Great song. I love it, been looking for it and of course you have it.Love Love your site. Do you remember Shelly Thunder, Sister Carol just reminiscing. Thanks Bella have a great evening.
Dis tune still make my skin tingle. It was my Jamaican woman anthem for so many years. Nothing like it!
I discovered this song in “Belly” as well. That bass line. Wo-man!!! Thanks AfBe.
This is my song, I always thought she was saying “Bum Bum” and I never knew her name.
sidenote- when I was younger I was afraid to go to the “reggae floor” of the party…I was not ready…I still don’t think I’m ready:)
Man, I’ve always wanted to know who made this!! I searched andsearched every reggae artist to find out who aang this. We bumoped this hard in Mannheim back in the day at the Eagles Nest Club back in the early 90s right before they played “Murder She Wrote”. Dance Hall was slammin’ then. Just about every Raggae hour on the radio always plays this too.
Girl you are the bomb!
thank you sooooooooo much for posting this song. I remember it well from the movie “Belly” but had no idea who the artist was.
Thank you 😀
Love it! This song needs to be on my ipod! I can SWEAR that this beat has been used in other songs, right?
Thanks Bella!
It’s all about Bang Belly by Sister Nancy
