Your skin looks tired. You’re stressed out. You totally need a facial, pedicure, and massage, stat. Lucky you, beautiful bella – it’s Spa Week for the East Coast and Midwest, so if you live in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Chicago,Dallas, Minnesota, or Miami, you can snag a fabulous spa treatment for a mere $50 (compared to the typical price of some of these treatments, that’s a real bargain!).
Myself, I plan to book an appointment at the Karen Taylor Skin Care Center for the 60 Min Yon-Ka Le Grand Classique Facial towards the end of the week, and follow the helpful Spa Week instructions. Book ASAP, mention Spa Week, and don’t forget to tip! Spa Week runs from October 16-22.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or are colorblind and can’t see the little pink ribbons that seem to be affixed to everything these days, you already know that October is Breast Cancer Month. I love buying products that help charity organizations, particularly charities as fine as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. There’s a range of cool pink stuff in the charity’s gift shop, and some of my fave beauty blogs have highlighted some wonderful breast cancer awareness products.
Visit 55 Secret Street, The Makeup Girl Blog, The Budget Fashionista, and Beauty Addict for gorgeous charity-supporting beauty stuff. Even better, check out Sephora’s Beauty with a Cause page for shopping ideas. I plan to get the undoubtedly splendid Philosophy Shower For the Cure shampoo, bath, and shower gel. Now that’s a good look!

And finally, I’m not by any means a celebrity sycophant (or psychophant, as I think of them). I think few things are sadder than a hanger-on. I guess it all started back in college, when I would invariably wind up standing with a throng of scantily-clad girls trying to get into a VIP room. Desperation is the worst cologne.
Consequently, I avoid most (if not all) star-studded events here in Miami. But I must say, Kelis’s surprise party for Nas in New York sounded like fabulous fun. (You need be a New York Times site member to read it. It’s free and worth it!)
They’re by far my favorite hip-hop celebrity couple, and it’s sweet to see love celebrated instead of being torn down like it always is. Happy belated, Nasty Nas! Can’t wait for the new album to drop!
